FAQ

Here’s a list of Frequently Asked
Questions by our public:

How to reduce my chances of catching a cold?

Common cold, also known as the flu, is usually caused by various strains of viral organisms such as the Influenza A & B, Parainfluenza, Respiratory Syncytial virus etc.

It is usually transmitted via air droplets when infected individuals sneeze or cough. Hence, if you happen to be in close contact with these individuals, do remember to cover your nose and mouth, to minimize your chances of getting transmitted with the virus.

The best method of minimizing your chances would be signing up for the flu vaccination each year, and it is readily available in our clinic. There are also certain groups of individuals who are recommended to receive the vaccine as per CDC (Centre of Disease Control and Prevention) guidelines. Do feel free to consult any of our friendly clinic staff for more details regarding the vaccination.

What should I do if I notice a lump?

Lumps and bumps are common surgical conditions, and they can be found in almost any part of the human body. It is usually a benign swelling, but certain lumps may be suspicious, and would warrant further imaging, or even surgical excision for further evaluation.

Thorough clinical assessment, and physical examination of the lump on your body is necessary to evaluate the nature of the swelling. If necessary, surgical excisional biopsy of the lump is also readily made available in our clinic. If you do notice one, please do not hesitate to consult any of our clinic doctors for further investigation.

What’s HFMD and what should I do?

HFMD, also known as Hand Foot Mouth Disease, is a contagious medical condition, usually seen in the younger population. However, it may sometimes occur in adults as well. Common symptoms include fever, mouth ulcers and blister-like rashes over the hands and/or feet.

It is caused by the Enterovirus group of organisms, and it can be transmitted easily via the infected individual’s oral secretions (saliva), blister fluid and stool. Therefore, it is imperative to isolate yourself home, and to observe proper hygiene in order to minimize transmission of disease and/or your family’s chances of getting infected.

There is no specific treatment for the condition, except medication for symptom relief. Fortunately, it is a self-limiting medication condition, and most, if not all, will recover fully.  If any of your family members are suspected of having the condition, please do not hesitate to seek medical attention with our clinic doctors.

Which is the most relevant health screening package for me?

Our clinic’s holistic Bronze, Silver and Gold health screening packages are suitable for all groups of individuals. Each of them is specifically designed to maximise its health screening coverage for common medical conditions such as Diabetes, Hypertension (high blood pressure), Hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol) etc.

Fasting lipids (cholesterol), glucose (sugar), kidney function, liver function and urine analysis for microalbuminuria (protein leak) are some of the more common tests carried out in the chronic management of such conditions.

Investigations such as Electrocardiogram , Chest X Ray, Ultrasound liver/gallbladder are included as part of the package, depending on the indications.

Other relevant investigations available:

  1. PAP smear (for all females who are sexually active)
  2. Screening Mammogram (for females above the age of 40 years old, or even earlier depending on their risk stratification)
  3. Ultrasound breasts (for females less than the age of 40 years old, or those with smaller breast volume)
  4. Ultrasound pelvis (for females with menstrual disorders, usually done together with hormonal blood investigations)
  5. Screening colonoscopy (for those above the age of 50 years old, or even earlier depending on their risk stratification)
